About Me
My name is Jackson Byars
I’m a Texas A&M alum, class of 2019, with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries, where I had the chance to challenge myself in honors courses and dive deep into the science I love. I’ve been a professional virtual tutor for several years, but my passion for teaching started long before that: I’ve been helping students tackle new subjects and build confidence since high school. Over the years, I’ve worked with students in a wide range of subjects, from math and science to economics, always tailoring each session to fit their individual needs.
Learning is something I’m genuinely passionate about, whether it’s solving tricky physics problems, exploring new math strategies, or even figuring out how to rebuild my car engine, and I aim to share that excitement with every student I work with. I believe that education is about more than memorizing facts; it’s about curiosity, problem-solving, and helping students think on the wild side.
When I’m not tutoring, I work as a zookeeper, caring for everything from African porcupines to crocodiles to venomous cobras. That hands-on experience has taught me patience, observation, and creative problem-solving: skills I bring to every tutoring session. My goal is to help students not just understand their subjects, but to truly enjoy the process of learning and feel confident in their abilities.
Porangu-the Argentine Black and White Tegu in my logo and in the picture to the right (or below in mobile)-is Scaled Up Tutoring’s official mascot. He’s an incredible zoo ambassador who wins people over with calm curiosity, which is exactly the spirit I bring to tutoring: patient, engaged, and always exploring new ideas. Around here, we call it thinking on the wild side.
